Before cement is poured
1. 6-8 inches of washed masonry sand or equivalent is needed
(very important).
2. Insulate footings (see attached diagram).
3. All plumbing – drain tile, everything that is going in the
floor needs to be in before floor cable is installed (plumbing as
deep as possible).
4. Support footings (see NOTE on attached diagram).
5. Cement crew needs to have floor to grade.
6. Notify me 3-4 days prior to when the floor will be poured and
allow me a day to install the floor cable.
After cement is poured
1. Contact me to get the floor heat hooked up on either Xcel
Energy’s program (cash back refund) or the cooperative’s program.
All utilities offer an off-peak rate.
2. After the floor heat is hooked up, turn
thermostat up to 80 degrees for at least one week to charge the
system up, and then adjust the temperature accordingly. .
